What is a Golf Shot Routine?

No matter the endeavour, if you want to get it done well, there is always a process to achieving the outcome you desire. Golf is no different.

If you want to hit good golf shots, you have to follow the proven processes necessary to achieve success.

A golf shot routine is a series of mental and physical actions that a golfer goes through before, during and after hitting a shot.

A good golf shot routine will include the following steps:

The 6 phases of a golf shot routine

The 6 steps or phases a golfer goes through to hit good golf shots can be summarised as below.

  1. A golfer assesses the situation and gathers information about the shot they are about to hit

  2. A golfer uses the information and makes a decision about the shot

  3. A golfers rehearses the decision physically or mentally or a combination of the two

  4. A golfer gets set up to play the shot

  5. A golfer makes a swing and plays the shot

  6. A golfer observes the shot, learns from it and moves on to the next shot

These 6 phases don’t always need to happen one after the other, sometimes they happen concurrently, but the fact remains that they all need to happen if you want to give yourself a chance of hitting good golf shots.

Golf shot routines have never been documented in detail and it’s been a bit of a mystery to golfers to understand exactly where things went wrong as far as the mental game goes.

The Everest Golf App have solved this problem, by taking golfers through a mental and physical check list and detailing exactly where things went right or wrong with any given golf shot.

So download the Everest Golf App and gain understanding of exactly where things go wrong when you hit poor shots.
